Natalia Fikhtengolts is a famous Russian violin teacher. Born in Moscow, she graduated from the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music and State Music Academy. She was a student of Professor Mikhail Garlitsky, Genrikh Talalian and of her father, the renowned violinist Mikhail Fikhtengolts. A member and soloist of the Russian Chamber Orchestra, Natalia Fikhtengolts undertook concert tours with the orchestra in Germany, Great Britain, Mexico and Japan. After ending her active carrier as a violinist, she assumed a teaching position at Gnessin Music College, working there from 1978 till 2005. Since 2005 Mrs. Fikhtengolts has been a Professor at the State Classic Academy and College of the Moscow Conservatory. She is the author of a number of works about methods and techniques of violin playing. Natalia Fikhtengolts taught numerous master classes in Russia, Germany, Greece, France and Japan. Many of her students won prizes at international competitions. Some of them are members of famous orchestras or work as teachers. For over 10 years, Mrs. Fikhtengoltz was a member of International foundation “New Names” and a leader of the violin ensemble bearing the same name.
